SUBTLY SMOKY
People have strong feelings about smoked beer; among them, that it's intense, lacks mass appeal and should only be drunk on rare occasions. We believe the art of crafting a great smoked beer lies not in the smoke itself, but in what you place around it.
Enveloped in our oak foudre and aged for six weeks, Short Fuse absorbs a pillowy toasted marshmallow character that melds perfectly with its integrated smoke character. Dry, light in body (our second-to-lightest beer after What Might Have Been), aromatic and smooth, it's the beer we brew to squash preconceived notions about what it means to sip on smoke.

Hard to get this one right but you guys did it!

Subtle smoke, nice malt balance, clean and dry
Gregory M.
You drink it and drink it and drink it and it just keeps being good

Great!

This smoked beer has the right amount of smokiness.

I'm always impressed with the consistency of beers from Threes. I went out on a limb for this beer--although I am okay with light lagers, it's not my favorite category, and smoke can be overdone. Figured they would balance it out, and they did. There's a good malt presence even in a lower-alcohol beer, and the smoke level is just right--not overpowering, but not a mere wisp you won't notice. A great food beer and certainly very drinkable. Well done again.

Smoky and light at the same time. Awesome!
Melissa M.
This is a great brew good for all-season sipping. The smoked aspect adds a delicious taste that makes this wonderfully balanced with the tasting notes of a smoked porter and the elements of a lighter beer. Year-round favorite.
David W.
A lightly smoked rauchbier, kept in check beautifully! Doesn't tip into the phenolic badness, and stays with the mild smoky goodness. In doing so the base helles can still be enjoyed instead of wiped out with no subtlety. While the effects of the foudre are simply absent, the flavors that are there, are there in spades. Just a delicious sessionable beer.

Just the right amount of smoke without being too overbearing. Perfectly balanced.

Never had a smoked beer like this before. Great, lighter option!

Absolute favorite beer all year round...

I'm not usually a fan of smoked beers, but this one offers an interesting flavor profile without heading into full bacon-taste like a lot of others in this category. If anything, the smokiness imparts more of an oaky, woodsy taste to this charming yet approachable brew.

Loved this beer! Smoke is just enough to give it a slight linger and initial taste but this is oh so crushable. Wish I had bought more!
Ryan B.
A perfectly done Helles that is elegantly complimented by the addition of smoke. A beer I always grab whenever a new batch is brewed.
Vincent M.
Light smokiness and nice soft mouthfeel.
Matthew L.
It took some getting used to but I ended up enjoying it. It's not something I'd have more than one of at a time.
Murad B.
Great light smoke. Outsatnding!
Anthony T.
Nuanced take on a smoked lager, not as pronounced as the Solid Air, but a better food beer!
Markus K.
Light smoke, crushable and refreshing.

Perfect amount of smoke. Delicious!
Andy S.
Perfect beer. Complex without sacrificing drinkability. Flavorful without requiring +ABV. Smokiness appropriate for all seasons. Glass is empty because I chugged it.
Joseph D.
Perfect amount of smoke. Don’t be scared- this isn’t overwhelming.
Joseph D.
That's the perfect amount of smoke! Subtle enough for people who may be nervous venturing into this style of beer but prominent enough to satisfy smoke lovers. Excellent job!
Raphael C.
Another great lager, 3s had another great year making craft lagers!

One of my favorites

Was worth a flyer, but not my cup of...beer. Others will definitely like this more than I do, so I'd recommend you try it. It's just simply not for me.
Mehran M.
Smoked malty nose, w/ a body that’s lightly smoked, nicely malted, and crisp. Finishes crisp, and nicely smoked. A great smoked Helles Lager, and true to the style!
April S.
pairing perfection with any grilled items
Greg M.
Will definitely order this again. Smoked flavor doesn't overpower the delightful lager underneath.
Andrea B.
Delicious! Wasn't expecting a smoked beer to be so light and refreshing- so we ordered 2 more- highly recommend!
Adam L.
Beautiful Helles lager. Smoky. A little thin for my taste, but still highly enjoyable.
Jeff G.
A delicate smoked Helles that is perfect for summer backyard grilling. GET IT!

Threes lagers are the best lagers
Blake R.
Great lager. Slightly smokey, like a gorgeously umami czech lager or helles. Very nice.
Raphael C.
Crisp with a subtle wood finish.
Andrew H.
Delicious - crisp and refreshing with just a hint of smoke that really balances it out. Would recommend!
Raphael
Great! Buy if love lagers!
Scott K.
Not too smokey on the finish and the oak presence is just right too.
Jake M.
Others get more hype, but this is the best beer Threes makes.
