SPRING IN A GLASS
The most subtle and restrained beer we make. It's the brewers' after-shift beer, the one we spend the most time talking about and tweaking. It was initially conceived as our "rite of passage" as a lager brewery, a study in brewing something stripped down yet evocative of our house yeast and favorite malts.
It's a touch maltier vs. other lagers, but delivers sweetness with overall lightness at a lower ABV. It's among our most accessible beers in the portfolio. Joyous honey nectar character alongside floral notes makes it taste like spring in a glass.

What a beer!!!
Michael H.
This was my best buds last night in his apartment. A pandemic led him upstate…the beer was appropriate
Michael H.
A delish beer for what might have been an annoying day…
Brian S.
This beer screams summer supper. Tasty, a little bready, and refreshing.
Shawn S.
Should be a lager staple, ubiquitously. Side-by-side with vliet far as I’m concerned. Love love love it
Michael B.
Just as advertised, a light-bodied but deep-tasting Hellesbier. Terrific with meals or when other choices might be a bit too strong. Beverage of champions!
Raphael C.
Another winner!
Tyler N.
Great helles, easy to drink with just enough malt flavor to keep you interested but not enough to get in the way of the conversations you should be having around the campfire while drinking this
Dan M.
A great Helles that brings me back to wandering around Germany, drinking at beer halls, and generally having a blast. Light, easy drinking, and smooth. Was better out of a glass than the can because you really got to smell the beer as it was being poured.
Shawn S.
Always nice to revisit. Makes me wonder why it’s been so long. Malt finesse with a honey-like caress.
Anthony C.
It's scary good
Brian (me) S.
I just really like helles. I’m a big IPA guy but helles never disappoint. This one is crisp and tasty with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s a nice break in between IPAs when you’re watching football.
Kevin F.
Hands down the best lager out there. Light, refreshing but still has tons of flavor. This is the type of craft beer you want as your session. Macro lovers will be converted after sharing this with them.
Edward J.
A light but interesting lager -- for when you're having more than one . . .
Anthony C.
What an amazing beer! Cheers!
Justin O.
Crisp and clean. VERY drinkable in the summer!
Damika I.
Consistent
Steven G.
An instant classic. Easily my favorite summer beer and it’s always the first four pack to suddenly be missing when we order more beer.
Jen
Great Summer lager! Loved sipping on it outside while reminiscing with pals.
Anthony C.
Beer me please!
Anthony C.
Cannot say enough about how dang good it is!
Michael H.
Great Lager!
Michael H.
Love this lager!!! Can’t get enough of it!
Mehmet B.
I enjoy German pale lagers in Germany but by the time they reach our shores, they definitely don't taste the same! The Helles beat the "hell" out of skunked tasting imports!
edward j.
Light, smooth, drinkable. Perfect summer beer.
Tye C.
Enjoying this additional light option from Three’s. Recommended for something slightly different but similar to Vliet.
Dan M.
Admittedly I'm not a huge Helles fan, but this was surprisingly nice. It had a bit of sweetness that I wasn't necessarily expecting, but it wasn't overpowering. Would absolutely drink again, but not running out of my way to procure any.
Gregory M.
Summer smash. Can and hopefully will be drinking this all summer.
Anthony C.
This one is a big winner!
Anthony C.
I can drink this one all summer long. Actually, anytime of year!
Nicholas D.
so good! easy going beer for the summer!
Jonathan K.
This is a great lager!
Anthony C.
A solid choice in beer. You won't be disappointed in either one of these. I recommend sharing with someone who normally only drinks commercial beer... you may open their eyes to a whole new world of awesomeness!
Kraig S.
Perfect smooth and Helles of a great beer. Perfectly balanced with hops and malt to transmit my mind to Summer in the Alps. Prost!!
Joseph D.
The perfect summer beer. That's it. That's the post.
Murad B.
Excellent beer! Very refreshing and crushable.
Samuel B.
Pleasant, easy-drinking beer with a little bit of haze, refreshing taste, looking forward to drinking more of these on a hot summer day.
Michael H.
Easy drinking little thinking.
Ed
I received your beer as a Christmas gift from a friend who lives in Manhattan. I like it very much - it's light but flavorful. I think it would be a perfect summer beer. I'll be trying some of your other brews. Thanks.
Skabiski
This beer is too crushable! Tremendous flavor for such a lightweight. I hope this one gets produced often.
Bo M.
My fav one from Threes to date!
Josh L.
I ordered 4 kinds of beer for delivery and this is the only one I'm not giving 5 stars, which I think I'm only doing so as to differentiate this one from its brothers. I like it a lot and I probably should cut up a lemon or lime wedge and toss it in to see how that works out. But I seem to like the other 3 (Volition, Constant Disappointment, and Unreliable Narrator) more...those last two are stronger which I prefer, and, Volition has something more interesting going on that WMHB. But WMHB is plenty tasty and it's good for those days when you're done with work at 5pm, but you still have a little bit of you-time in your schedule before dinner and Netflix. So you crack open a What Might Have Been, look outside the window, and think about Spring, and your plans for the future (that's another thing - I'm writing this review on Feb 2, and there's like 20 inches of snow outside -- this is probably more of a May/June beer).
Gregory M.
Light and true to style. Great flavor.
Ronald B.
Delicious. Helles can be hard to find so happy to get it.
Eric B.
Light comparatively to some of their beers. Give it a chance!
Shawn S.
Yep new standby for sure. Very quaffable without being too light. Has a solid malt structure and just the right amount of hops to balance it. Has a fuller body than I would have expected. Texture and mouthfeel are are spot on.
Emma D.
This continues to be a great beer, one of my faves from Threes. Endlessly glad that Threes now ships to Massachusetts, and that their beer arrives as quickly, safely, and fresh-tasting as ever.
Alexander N.
Accurate description -- totally drinkable
Dave S.
If this were local to Illinois I’d be drinking it regularly . Bready crisp helles
Dominik G.
Such a well executed Helles. Love the earthy notes with the biscuit bready taste.
JJ V.
Outstanding. Bit of sulfur on the noise, but other than that, chefs kiss.
Keith T.
Good with burgers, BBQ chicken, crispy fries. Sunny day beer.
Michael K.
Great Helles. My favourite beer right now!
Dan M.
Light, clean, and sweet - a traditional Helles. Nothing more and nothing less. Just a solid Helles that deserves the be drank
Shawn R.
Break yourself from the summer pilsner explosion!
Jeremy T.
Smooth and mellow, like the late summer beer it is.
Ihor F.
Slightly hazy, golden color. Big, white head. Aroma of malt, hay, and honey. Crisp, malty taste with moderate bitterness.refreshing and easy to drink. Loved this one.
Shannon Y.
Great refreshing crisp beer!
Michael C.
Very drinkable! Loved these.
Greg M.
Delicious, easy-drinking Helles that sticks close to the style. Great for a summer afternoon or a sneaky lunch beer.
Arnaud M.
Done right, Helles is to beer what an omelette is to the culinary arts: an expression in understated excellence.
Emma D.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this beer--I never know how to interpret beer descriptions--but it's a winner. It's drinkable without being boring, light without being watery and bland, and has a distinct flavor without being overpowering. Very happy I took a chance on this one, and would gladly buy again.
Brian D.
Great summer day drinking beer! Light and refreshing with great flavor.
John G.
Maybe my favorite Threes beer...exactly the beer I want to drink outside during spring/summer.
Ben S.
James is a bad seed. Careful of that one...
travis l.
I chugged this two different times. The next ones will be just as good
Guilherme Z.
Light hop aroma, saaz and some mittelfruh-like. Bread, crushed cereals, clean maltiness, pronounced. Smooth. Medium body. Well balanced and very crushable. What a beer.
Jeremy H.
Sorry, I drank all of these a week ago or I would have shared a photo. Has a nice, smooth, golden ale feel to it. Refreshing and drinkable
Carlos J. M.
This is easily one of my favorite beers to drink on a Spring day - crisp, honey nectar sweetness, and light floral notes. It is a very drinkable beer that checks all the right boxes.
John S.
Crushable- hot day, a cooler with ice , this beer perfection!
Andrew P.
Perfect summer drinking beer
Tyler D.
Great helles!!
Christopher M.
This was my first time trying What Might Haven Been, and while I'd still prefer Vliet, it's definitely a very good Helles lager.
Peter S.
Really hit the spot, sitting on my stoop on a Friday evening. A reward for getting through a difficult week after a couple difficult months.
Ryan D.
Light, crisp, flavorful easy-drinking without being limp or watery.
Anthony C.
Highly recommend buying these two ("What Might Have Been" and "Kicking & Screaming")! Perfect summer beers and I cannot decide which is better!
Dylan L.
So glad I was able to grab this. So delicious and can’t wait to be back in the backyard. Thank you and stay strong!
