Job Description: Staff Accountant
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Staff Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting needs of our brewery, hospitality, and retail operations. This role is central to ensuring accurate financial records across multiple revenue streams, locations, and systems — including taprooms, events, wholesale, and e-commerce.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment and enjoys partnering closely with operations, production, and leadership to keep the business running smoothly.
What You'll Do
General Accounting & GL Management
- Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple business lines
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and balance sheet accounts
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Execute and support month-end close processes on a timely schedule
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Assist with variance analysis across retail, wholesale, production, and events
- Support budgeting and forecasting with historical and trend data
Inventory, COGS & Production Accounting
- Support inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Reconcile inventory between production systems, POS, and accounting software
- Assist with COGS calculations, yield analysis, and shrink tracking
- Partner with operations and production teams to ensure inventory accuracy
Revenue & POS Reconciliation
- Reconcile daily and monthly sales across POS systems (taprooms, events, e-commerce)
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition across channels
- Investigate discrepancies between POS, bank deposits, and accounting records
AP, AR & Vendor Support
- Review and support accounts payable and vendor payments
- Assist with vendor reconciliations and expense tracking
- Support invoicing and accounts receivable for wholesale and events
Payroll, Taxes & Compliance
- Assist with payroll review and payroll-related reconciliations
- Support sales tax, excise tax, and other regulatory filings
- Maintain documentation for audits, tax prep, and compliance reviews
- Coordinate with external CPAs and advisors as needed
Systems & Process Improvement
- Work across accounting software, POS systems, inventory tools, and spreadsheets
- Identify inefficiencies or risks and propose process improvements
- Support system integrations and reporting consistency
What You Bring
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 - 4 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end close
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar)
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Preferred
- Experience in brewery, hospitality, retail, or CPG
- Familiarity with POS systems (Square, Shopify, Toast, etc.)
- Experience with inventory, COGS, and multi-location reporting
- Experience supporting excise tax or alcohol-related compliance
- Comfortable working in a growing, evolving organization
